Mirror Mirror (1966) These guys changed their name to The Flying Machine and had a huge hit with "Smile A Little Smile For Me".
RIP Dennis Yost Of The Classics IV

I am sad to report than Dennis died yesterday morning. He was a great talent, and had a fantastic voice. Here is a scarce video of The Classics from 1966 lip-synching their wonderful Capitol release "Pollyanna".
The Searcher, keeping on keeping on rocking.
I’m likely going to annoy a lot of people, but I much prefer the McNally/Pender/Curtis/Tony Jackson lineup. Thought there was more of an edge music-wise, even in their hit records. Don’t get me wrong: Frank Allen was a great addition, and there are some tunes from the later lineup that I enjoy listening (“When You Walk in the Room,” for example); but there seemed to be a greater dynamic when Tony was with them. Be kind!

His falsetto was much better than Frankie Valli’s
Wish I was that age again
Prachtig nummer !
Love this song! It like the Turtles meet The Mamas & The Pappas.
Sebastian was the doyen of 60s autoharp, prevalent on several spoonful songs
Still got the 45
These were talented guys
Great footage-interesting to see them performing an album track rather than the latest single thanks for the post Auckland New Zealand 2021
Awesome voice brilliant oldies from Bobby keeps me young again. All loved Bobby singing thanks for this brilliant singer loved the 60s songs a fan since I was 16YRS old now 74years old still listening to Bobby rock on ace rest in peace ✌✌ Bobby fab fab song s brilliant singers ❤❤
YUS I HAD A BURNS SPLIT SOUND AT ONE TIME THOUGH IT WAS QUITE GOOD WITH WILD DOG AND ATTACK TONES
I am still heartbroken
What mode is this song? Anyone know? Mixolydian?
Dorian surely
@@michael.ahearn thanks!!
So gorgeous and very talented wow he was the bomb.
I <3 me some Searchers!
There was a buy British thing going around then so that might have something to do with the Burns guitars (Essex) and Vox amps (Kent). The Burns look like they're a bit of a handful really, if I look carefully I can just make out the lead guitarist behind his double-six but the bass player sems to be in the process of being swallowed whole by a bison. I still love 'em all though.
Think it's from '68 actually
These guys broke up in '66..
@@ann275 It was released after they broke up. 5/68 according to what I've read. "Two years after MFQ disbanded, a second Dunhill MFQ single, the double A-side "Don't You Wonder" backed with "I Had a Dream Last Night", was released in 1968."
Fantastic. Bobby Bee . Thank you.
I love Bobby's voice on this. He sings with such wisdom and there's some soul going on. I loved his late 60s/70s recordings.
Don't like the beard
Great performance! Always a good live show!
Great group. RIP Dennis.
Dave Holland was the drummer when it was released but he didn't play on it, right? and what about the b-side "She don't care" ?
Would love to hear the entire story from the time Dennis learned of the threat by the Four Seasons through to the time he made his first hit record with his natural voice.
Sherry Von me too
. Fantastic !! It would be nice to know the titles of these nice tunes and who were their authors. What a great singer Bobby was !, R.I.P. .
I love this group of songs and love Bobby's take on them! The first song is I Just Can't Help Believing, written by Barry Mann/ Cynthia Weil and a hit for BJ Thomas in 1970. Bobby recorded it prior to then on an album in 1969. The second song is The Lady Came From Baltimore, written and recorded by Tim Harden. The last song is Both Sides Now, written by Joni Mitchell and a hit for Judy Collins in 1968, although Joni also did her own version after this.
Thank you very much, Peggy, it's been very kind of you to inform me about this tunes titles ;)
You're welcome, Carlos! Bobby certainly had a wonderful warm voice, and he is still my favorite. :)
One of the FEW live performances of the Searchers that were actually LIVE. My band had to play in Palatka, FL the night they played in Jacksonville, so I did not get to see them ... but I did get to LOSE my 1954 Stratocaster out the back window of my brother's station wagon, very early the next morning (2 AM) 25 July 1965 ... bad night for me, that's for sure ...
I could never work out why a five-piece with guitars, bass, drums and auto-harp needed to be drowned out by an orchestral score!
yes 1974 no 1964
Jim
hermoso video , guapisinos !!2:30 Tony!!sensacional cancion
RIP for Dennis Yost, God bless him...Honduras loves him!
Great performance from Bobby, reckon it's it around mid 70's.
I cant hear it but I love it Runaround Sue❤❤❤❤❤❤
A true artist. I like him very much.
Poylanna is a truly great song, very upbeat. Dennis could also hit the high notes with the Classics. Thank you so much Dennis Yost. We'll still be singing and listening to all your wonderful music. We all love you very much. God bless your wife Linda and all the family.
I remember the Flying Machine, but just heard "Mirror Mirror", and I can't seem to stop playing it. I wish it had made an impact Stateside.
I believe their big hit in America was Smile a Little Smile For Me Rosalie
loved the 60s especially 1965 66
Another failed band of imitators. Beatles forever!
I strongly disagree-The Searchers were the most successful liverpool group after The Beatles(The Beatles named the searchers their fav liverpool group),had a string of hits 63-66 and were considered one of the finest early english groups
Love the music from the sixties ... love this , thanks for posting.
To add a little to the understanding, John McNally said in an extensive interview many years ago that he HATES this song, which is no doubt why the present-day Searchers don't perform it! He felt it was a mistake to begin it in one key and then modulate down to another one. And he was very upset that it was chosen as a single, and mortified when it only made it to #35 on the charts. FWIW, I disagree violently with him..."When I Get Home" is one of my top three all-time favorite Searchers songs!
great cover. wasn't expecting to hear this done any justice...
I am officially addicted to the Hollies in general, and to Allan in particular. Help.
Hahah I'm addicted to him too lol
I own a Burns Marvin exactly like John Mcnallys. Good instrument it has different tones but I prefer my Fender Strat
my grandma fell in love with the triangle player ....... and had the major "hots"!
Almost could be a track from the first Association album.
Love this. Beautiful songs , expertly sung.
00:57 omg that arrow, Cupid ♥
The drummer is Dave Holland from Judas Priest, e.g. "Living After Midnight", "You've Got Another Thing Coming."
Holland played in this band, but this is him?
Yes it is him.
